Welcome everyone! I’m here to give the full scoop of the new and amazingly successful workout program by Shaun T, famous trainer for Insanity (currently the #1 fitness program in America). I first knew about Focus T25 in March when I attended the top Beachbody Coach 2013 Success Club Trip in Florida where Shaun T treated us to two early morning workouts at the Epcot Center in Disney World. It was obvious form  the first workout  he had a new program on the horizon. Shaun T gave us a few juicy details, but overall, since then both Beachbody and Shaun T were very cautious to divulge anything further.

When it was announced at the 2013 Beachbody Coach Summit, the response from the crowd was, like a famous quote of Shaun T in Insanity, “Bananas, yo!” It wasn’t simply adoring Shaun T fans excited for a new program, it was the premise of the program itself and the results of the T25 test group that was readily and enthusiastically accepted: Shorter workout times, greater results.

Picture this: you wake up early morning and pop in your usual workout program disc. You’re determined to finish the program to get results, but the long workout time weighs heavily on you. Over time, you wish you could devote less time to your workout and instead place it in other areas of your life. Does this sound like you?

This is precisely what happened with Carl Daikeler, CEO of Beachbody and was the inspiration behind this new, revolutionary program. When Shaun T got wind of this new project, he insisted on taking it on and boy are we glad he did as the result of his efforts are amazing.

What is Focus T25?

The T stands for “Time,’ but also cleverly ties into Shaun T’s name. The main focus (no pun intended) of T25 is to deliver a shorter workout that still yields great results. The main program is 10 weeks long with 10 workouts, divided among two phases: Alpha and Beta. There is another T25 Gamma Phase that is sold separately, which I highly recommend as they are among my favorite workouts and will give you maximum results due to their increased intensity. More on that later in my review.

“Shorter workout times, greater results”

Each workout is only 25 minutes long, with an optional 2 minute cool down and the workout schedule is 5 days a week with Friday being a “Double Workout” day. Having said that, I had a few members from my first T25 group choose to do the second workout on Saturday to stay on schedule. That is absolutely okay and it didn’t hinder anybody’s progress in any way.

There are no breaks with T25! None, zilch, zip, nada. The only exception is one Alpha workout: Speed 1.0 where you get a few pauses to stretch before resuming. So from the moment you begin each workout, you never stop moving. Now can you see why this program will give your great results?

T25 are fast paced, hi-intensity workouts and Shaun T uses “progressive” style where he adds more challenge to the moves as time goes on. In addition, each phase amps up the intensity so at the end of the program you are a cardio burning machine and loving every minute of it.

The workouts may be intense, but they only have moderate impact. This is good news for those that found the classic Insanity or Insanity Asylum too hard on the knees and other parts of the body. Be prepared for plenty of squats and burpees in the program to offer a greater calorie burn.

Will T25 Give Results?

Everyone in my first T25 Facebook workout group had amazing results and I myself  was surprised to lose 10 pounds in just under 60 days. Unlike other Beachbody programs, I didn’t feel like I was having to push myself to the max and therefore was eagerly looking forward to the next workout. So it’s a much smoother road to success than his other rigorous programs.

Who doesn’t have 25 minutes a day? Seriously, no excuses! Now you can get results with only as little as 25 minutes a day and have a blast at the same time. T25 was designed to for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. No warmups necessary anymore, every minute now counts and can be equivalent to 60 minutes of other fitness routines!

Who will benefit the most from T25?

Honestly, just about everyone. Yeah, it’s that good. Seriously, there are so many different types of people that this program will appeal to. T25 is perfect for:

  • Anyone that wants great results, but in less time
  • Busy people that can’t devote large blocks of time to a fitness program
  • Anyone tired or bored of their current fitness routine
  • Cardio lovers and/or those that crave intensity
  • People that want a well rounded workout with both Cardio & Resistance

So who wouldn’t like Focus T25? I told you, nobody! No, just kidding. The only people that may take a pass are anyone who doesn’t like Shaun T’s style or prefers to build muscle. However, I’m a muscle building kind of guy too, doing programs like P90X and Body Beast all the time. I found T25 to be the most forgiving program to lean out without risking too much muscle loss. Besides, it was tons of fun too!

What comes with the T25 Base Kit?

T25 has a different approach with the materials it includes with the workouts. Gone is the usual program guide as there really isn’t anything complex about the program to explain. Just press play and follow Shaun T’s lead! Instead, T25 comes with a a simple Quick Start Guide and 5 Day Fast Track Plan.

So thankfully, no need to study a thick program guide book as the 5 Day Fast Track is an effective way to get you started with the program. This neat little guide also has some quick tips on how to start a healthy nutrition plan with guidelines to follow each day to ensure quick results. Simply flip through the few pages to find complete guidelines for the workout of the day complete with 5 suggested meals.

T25 Beta CalenderAnother excellent addition are the cool T25 Calenders. The concept of a workout calender is simple: place a mark on each calender day when you finish a workout. But with T25, there is a box for “Barely Made it” and “Nailed It!” You would be surprised how motivating this can be as everyone in my groups, myself included, pushes hard to get the prized, “Nailed It!” accomplishment.

What Equipment is Required for T25?

Unlike classic Insanity, T25 uses light dumbbells and/or exercise bands for some of the workouts to give a much more, well rounded workout. Furthermore, the resistance workouts ensure you get a total body workout to get lean, ripped and possibly even a set of sexy, six pack abs you always wanted!

Included with T25 is one pro grade resistance band and there is always one person in the workouts leading by example by using bands. If you go with dumbbells, you don’t need anything heavy as the workouts are endurance based. For example, I found 20 pounders a real challenge with the workouts.

Good shoes are highly recommended as you will be moving your feet a lot. In fact, your calves will likely be on fire for weeks after starting the program. If you have hardware floors, consider getting Nailed Itthe Plyo Jump mat or miniMAT for extra cushion and comfort.

I didn’t see a real need for a Pullup bar with Chin Up Max, as there were very few moves that required this. To keep it simple, I opted to do the alternate version like most of the T25 group in the videos.

There is actually a third Phase of workouts, Gamma, that I highly recommend. Why? Because this will ensure you get maximum results from the program. Shaun T ups the ante by adding more resistance work with weights, intervals, burpees, and more. Trust me, after 60 days of T25 you will be READY for more action and the Gamma phase workouts do not disappoint.

The Gamma workouts can be ordered separately or with the Deluxe package upgrade, which includes extra resistance bands and the MiniMat. If you don’t need the MiniMat or resistance bands, then your order the Gamma DVDs only.

With the Gamma Phase DVDs, you get 3 advanced 25 minute workouts:

  • Rip’t Up. This is a great workout to strengthen the entire upper body: biceps, triceps, shoulders, back, and chest.
  • Extreme Circuit. This is a crazy awesome workout where you use bands/dumbbells the entire time. Seriously, you never let go!
  • The Pyramid. I love pyramid workouts. You start off doing a rep of 1, followed by 2, 3,…all the way up to 7. You can feel the fat melting off you!
